Welcome to MAT – that’s short for the Management Assistance Team. We are a small, high-performing team that is part of the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies. We’re funded by a multistate conservation grant and our offices are at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Think of us as an internal consultancy and training resource on retainer for all fifty state fish and wildlife agencies across the country. We don’t get into the critter side of things; the states’ professionals are world class in that regard. Our products and services concentrate on the agency administration or the people part of the equation. MAT helps state fish and wildlife agencies in the areas of leadership development, organizational development, and programmatic and comprehensive agency effectiveness reviews.
